Privacy Policy

GoThere ("we", "our", or "the app") helps people plan a move abroad. This policy covers the mobile apps, the website at getgothere.app, and the public assistant endpoint at getgothere.app/mcp. It explains what we collect, what we deliberately do not, and your rights.

1. Information We Collect

Account data: When you create an account we collect your email address and a securely hashed password via Firebase Authentication. We do not store your password in plaintext.

User content: Tasks, calendar events, documents, and destination preferences you create in the app are stored in Google Firebase (Firestore and Firebase Storage) and associated with your account.

Guest mode: If you use the app as a guest, your data stays on your device and is not uploaded to any server.

Newsletter: If you submit your email address through the form on our website, it is stored in our self-hosted Listmonk instance so we can send you the newsletter. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes your address.

2. How We Use Your Data

• To provide and maintain the app's features (task tracking, calendar, documents, decision tools)
• To sync your data across sessions when signed in
• To send local notifications for calendar reminders, with your permission
• To send the newsletter, if you asked for it

3. What We Do NOT Do

• We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties
• We do not use advertising or ad-tracking SDKs
• We do not use your data for profiling or behavioural marketing
• We do not collect location data or device advertising identifiers

4. Website Analytics

Our website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views. It is cookieless, does not fingerprint visitors, and does not track you across other websites. We see aggregate traffic, not individuals. See the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.

5. AI Features

Where the app offers AI assistance, the text of your request is sent through our proxy to Anthropic, which generates the response. We do not use these requests to train models, and we do not retain them beyond what is needed to return the answer to you. Avoid putting sensitive personal details into free-text AI prompts. 6. Assistant Endpoint (getgothere.app/mcp)

We publish a citizenship-by-descent tool that AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Claude can call. It is deliberately built to hold nothing:

• It never asks for names. Ancestors are identified only by relationship, such as "grandparent"
• The facts supplied (countries and dates of birth) are used to compute an answer in memory and are then discarded
• Nothing is written to any database, and no account or sign-in is involved
• Ordinary web server logs record the request, as with any website

Note that your conversation with the assistant is governed by that assistant's own privacy policy, not ours.

7. Third-Party Services

• Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Storage) — Firebase Privacy Policy
• Apple StoreKit and Google Play Billing (in-app purchases) — payment details are handled by Apple and Google and never reach us
• Anthropic (AI features, see section 5)
• Cloudflare (website analytics and DNS, see section 4)

8. Data Storage & Security

Account data is stored on Google Firebase servers with encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access is restricted to your authenticated account. Our website and assistant endpoint are served over HTTPS.

9. Data Retention & Deletion

Your data is retained for as long as your account exists. You can delete your account at any time from the app's menu. When you delete your account:

• Your user profile is removed from our database
• Your authentication credentials are permanently deleted
• Uploaded documents in Firebase Storage associated with your account are removed

Newsletter subscriptions are separate: unsubscribe using the link in any email, or write to us.

10. Children's Privacy

GoThere is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Delete your account and all associated data
• Export your data upon request
• Object to processing, or withdraw consent you previously gave

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
