What Stamp 0 is — and isn't

Stamp 0 is a residency permission, not an immigration pathway. It's designed for people who can support themselves entirely on passive income and have no intention of working in Ireland or naturalizing. It's commonly used by financially independent retirees, people who already have family living in Ireland, and people who need a caregiver to accompany them into the country.

If your goal is eventually holding Irish or EU citizenship, don't count on Stamp 0 to get you there: whether Stamp 0 years count toward naturalisation is disputed (the current Immigration Service guide lists Stamp 0 as reckonable; older Department of Justice guidance said it isn't).
